Nestled in the heart of Houston at 6405 Antoine Dr Unit 15, Shrimp Island offers a flavorful journey through comforting and vibrant seafood and chicken dishes that cater to both casual diners and food enthusiasts alike. This local gem specializes in a blend of classic and bold flavors, highlighted by their standout New York Style Chicken Wings and perfectly paired shrimp fried rice. The menu is a delicious fusion that merges Southern comfort with a touch of Southeast Asian inspiration, best exemplified in their beloved Nasi Goreng and combo platters featuring crispy fried fish and succulent shrimp served with your choice of wheat or white bread.
Stepping into Shrimp Island, you’re met with a relaxed, unpretentious vibe that makes it ideal for a peaceful dinner or a quick, satisfying meal. Guests like SMITH MR CAMERON JAMES appreciate the calm atmosphere, commenting, "We will definitely return for another peaceful dinner." The vibe encourages you to focus on the food, which delivers a burst of freshness and hearty flavors in every bite.
Among the menu highlights, the Chicken Wings stand out for their crispy exterior and juicy interior, offering that familiar New York-style crunch. The 5-piece Wings with Shrimp Fried Rice combination is a personal favorite, marrying the savory spice of wings with the aromatic, fluffy rice bursting with tender shrimp. For those seeking variety, the Fish-Shrimp, Oyster-Combo plates offer great value with fresh seafood perfectly seasoned and fried to golden perfection. The Famous Fried Rice, whether topped with tender beef or juicy shrimp, is another crowd-pleaser that brings satisfying depth to the meal.
However, like any hole-in-the-wall spot, there are moments of imperfection, as shared by Ashley Harris, who noted that while the food remains consistently good, the fries once served were unexpectedly tough and rubbery. Such candid feedback adds authenticity to the dining experience, showing a place that strives to maintain its quality and connection with its community.
Many patrons, including Dyesha Alberty and Breandrea Davis, echo a sense of loyalty to Shrimp Island, praising the freshness and overall quality of the dishes. Despite external challenges nearby, as pointed out by Tim Cloud—who mentions local disturbances detracting from the ambiance—the food continues to shine and earn loyal fans who keep coming back to savor the robust flavors.
Whether you're in the mood for a comforting plate of seafood combos, a hearty serving of beloved wings, or a flavorful egg-fried rice, Shrimp Island delivers an inviting dining experience that feels like a hidden treasure of Houston’s diverse culinary landscape. For anyone craving genuine, soul-satisfying meals crafted with care, Shrimp Island is well worth a visit.

We will definitely return for another peaceful dinner.
Great food like always just to many illegal activities going on in front of the business the laws need to do something about it so the restaurant can have more business to come thru for the restaurant but food is great
This is one my favorite spots in the hood! The food is always good and fresh
My first time eating from here & i enjoyed it I’ll be back real soon
It's been yrs since I've been here but still has the same good food. Only negative had 2 wing dinners shrimp fried rice BUT the fries were so hard and rubbery we couldn't eat them.. other than that still good hole in the wall!
I LOVE THIS PLACE, I cannot stress this enough. The food is delicious, I’ve been coming here for YEARS literally. They have changed some of the people here but the food is still good. This is not a place to sit & eat, more like to go. It’s in a rough area so if you call & place your order, it would be much smoother & safer.
The food was great! The service needs to get better, says it’s closed yet open or says it’s open yet closed. Making phone calls they won’t answer the phone. Really only problem is the service because of lack communication on when the store it open or closed.
